Raspberry Season in the Finger Lakes Region

New York’s Finger Lakes Region is an area of the country with a temperate environment in the summer and rich, fertile soil. These conditions are not only perfect for our iconic vineyards, but also for many fruit-bearing plants, both in the wild and on often-organic farms. No that August has arrived, you’ll find a variety of colored highlights during hikes, and on organized farms. It’s raspberry season here in New York! If you’re interested in taking some of our natural bounty home with you after a bed and breakfast getaway here at the Inn at Gothic Eves, we have two nearby “U-Pick” farms that offer raspberries. If you don’t intend to eat them all while here, get them late in your trip so they don’t spoil before you get home!

Indian Creek Orchard 1408 Trumansburg Road Ithaca, NY 14850 607-227-8248 This charming farm is open “sunrise to sunset” every day, offering true flexibility for planning purposes. They offer picking supplies at the farm stand (boxes, trays, etc. for raspberries… other supplies for different fruits). There are farm dogs on the premesis… two of the five are friendly – the friendly pup will likely approach you for attention! While the farm does have raspberries, they have an ABUNDANCE of other crops ripening at many times throughout the year! So if you want apples and vegetables in the fall or Strawberries in early summer, this is a great place to visit.

Cassim Farms 3581 Yost Road Waterloo, NY 13165 315-539-2951 This family-operated business is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sundays during the growing and harvesting seasons. Although their website touts strawberries, raspberries are available here as well. Their gift shop offers baked goods, crafts, and handcrafts from area artisans.
