The Inn at Gothic Eves gets its share of beer lovers who enjoy nothing better than sampling the local flavors. Fortunately for them, Ithaca is home to three breweries that not only serve up some tasty pours but some savory food too.
The longest running of the trio is 17-year-old Ithaca Beer Co. which currently produces five year-round beers, plus seasonal and specialty beers, such as their new Anniversary 17, a hybrid between wheat ale and India pale ale. Regular brews include Nut Brown with hints of coffee and chocolate and the popular Green Trail, an easy-drinking pale ale that still offers up a hoppy punch. Stop by Ithaca Beer Co. and you can sample their beer with some classic pub food, like cheddar ale soup, made with the Green Trail beer and New York state cheddar. If you like something sweet, there’s an ice cream float made with either root beer or real beer.

15 craft beers plus a full-service restaurant have made the Bandwagon Brew Pub a favorite of locals and visitors alike. A great way to try the beers is to order their Bandwagon flight, a sampling of five distinctive brews. Ezra Red Ale, brewed in honor of Cornell University, balances the hop with a sweet maltiness. High Step Weizenboch, a wheat beer with an intense malt character, won the 2012 Best Craft Beer in New York award.
The Brewery puts just as much care into the food it serves as it does the beer, sourcing over 35% of ingredients from local producers, and only serving beef that is free of hormones and antibiotics, all things we at the Inn at Gothic Eves appreciate. The menu includes a nice selection of appetizers, salads and sandwiches, and a surprising assortment of dinner waffles topped with tasty options, like an Andouille sausage gumbo-like sauce. Diners will also find a dozen varieties of wings, with range of heat. Bandwagon Brew Pub

Daily and weekly specials keep the fans of Scale House Brewery and Pub coming back. The brewery makes just three beers in house: a pilsner, a red and a dark bock, plus a few seasonal beers, such as the winter wheat. But they carry many more varieties in the pub, as well as a nice selection of locally-produced wines. Visit on Saturday or Sunday and you can sample flights of three or six brews. Scale House offers traditional bar food including ribs and burgers, and calzones with 30 different fillings. A favorite is the daily special of a dozen wings and two pints.
