The Cayuga Lakes Wine Trail gets visitors into the spirit with the Annual Holiday Shopping Spree, a two-weekend event including 17 local wineries with tastings of holiday-inspired dishes and fine wines. Each ticket holder receives a wine glass, grapevine wreath and ornament from each participating winery, as well as a Shopper’s Discount Card and a recipe card from each winery.

Foodies will want to make note of Restaurant Week in Ithaca, December 6-14, 2014. This tasty event offers diners restaurant and bar specialties, special prices, tastings and cooking classes.
On December 13, 2014 more than 20 restaurants will compete during the Annual Downtown Chowder Cook-Off & Wine and Cheese Expo. Visitors get to sample the chowders, along with Finger Lakes wines and cheeses.

You can belly up to an ice bar during the Ithaca Ice War Competition, a National Ice Carving Association sanctioned event that has sixteen acclaimed ice carvers competing in three competitions over two days. Bundle up for the Aprés Ski Party and watch the carving while sipping wine or beer at the outdoor bar.
If you prefer a more genteel activity, Cornell Plantations offers a Winter Garden Tour. The guided walk takes visitors through the Mullestein Winter Garden, a showcase for plants with intriguing winter characteristics. The walk takes approximately one-hour and guests are advised to dress for the weather.
