The Inn at Gothic Eves welcomes you during the Ithaca Scottish Games and Celtic Festival, being held from June 29-30, 2013 at Steward Park in Ithaca (on the southern shore of Cayuga Lake)!
Now in its fifth year, this annual event brings together people of Scottish, Celtic, and other Eastern European heritage to celebrate their history and culture. This beloved event expands each year, and the goal of the event is to host a large-drawing pipe-band competition by its 10th year. At the rate they’re going, there’s a very good chance of this happening!
At the Festival, browse the many booths offering Clan and historic information, artistic goods, and alternative wellness information, and more. Take in performances, both dramatic and musical. The Ithaca Shakespeare Company will be on-hand to perform some short scenes. Also, five bands will be performing a variety of Irish/Celtic/Gaelic music from lilting to rowdy; both instrumental and vocal. With drums, pipes, and strings, you will be truly entertained.
Traditional competitions will be held including athletics, bag-piping, and dance. The event also celebrates the traditional life of these peoples by offering demonstrations in kilt-making, wool-spinning, sheep-shearing, tweed-softening (termed “waulking”), step-dancing, and more. Children’s activities include tug-o-war, scavenger hunt, races, athletics, games, face-painting and so much more. A full schedule of events is available.
Ithaca Beer Company and MacGregor Winery will be featured for the adults who choose. The refreshment tent will also offer food and non-alcoholic beverages as well.

If you would like to compete during your visit, competitive sign-ups are being taken for Heavy Athletics, Bagpipe Bands, Piping/Drumming Solos, and Highland Dance. Vendors, volunteers, and entertainers are also being accepted.
